Hambleden 4 v AFC Missenden 1
Hambleden's good form continued last Saturday remaining unbeaten in 2009, taking 10 points from a possible 12.
Although they weren't at their best, Hambleden ran out comfortable winners in the end. AFC Missenden were difficult to break down at times, but the side dwelling at the bottom of the league were no match for their in form hosts.
On 17 minutes, Kenrick Gordon's trickery inside the box was ended when Missenden's Mark Hutton caught a trailing leg. Matt Cook converted the spot-kick.
Hambleden had a scare on 24 minutes when striker Scott Gibbson neat the offside trap and slid the ball past on-rushing Ross Hathaway in Hambleden's goal from 18 yards.
Chris Brunning regained the lead for Hambleden on 38 minutes; he headed home Cook's corner on the second attempt from 4 yards.
Two minutes before the break, Adam Markwell's header found Lewis Brown; his low cross into the box was met by Jamal Maknin whose effort came off the post, but Cook was on hand to net the rebound.
Brown increased Hambleden's lead further on 61 minutes, racing clear to round Missenden keeper Draper, and roll the ball into an empty net.
Adam North had a great chance on 80 minutes to make it five, but his effort from 30 yards was excellently saved by Draper. Final score 4-1.
Hambleden travel to league leaders AFC Spartans on Saturday, kick-off 2pm at the Rye in High Wycombe.
