Match Report - Saturday 24 January 2009
Red Lion (Wooburn) 0  v  Hambleden 4

Hambleden travelled to Dereham's Lane, Loudwater to avenge the 6-2 home defeat inflicted on them last October.  This time Hambleden were the victors, gaining the first clean sheet of the season.

Hambleden had a chance as early as the 3rd minute; Ryan Kemp's quick free kick and quick thinking from Stuart Mcleod fed Adam North who shot over from 8 yards.

Red Lion's only clear cut chance came on 15 minutes from Dave Eccles and was brilliantly saved by stand-in keeper, defender Nikolai Lakovic.

On 35 minutes Hambleden went ahead; North and Marcus Cook combined down the left and Cook's inch perfect cross was headed home by Kenrick Gordon.  Two minutes later midfield general, Jamal Maknin, put Steve Sanshee clean through, but advancing keeper Will Barber blocked his first effort.  The second was cleared off the goal line.

In the second half, loan striker Sanashee single-handedly ran the Lion's defence ragged and on 57 minutes, Adam Markwell fed Sanashee who skipped past two defenders to slot home left footed.

On 70 minutes, Hambleden's keeper nightmare continued.  Lakovic, who had only been in goal due to injuries to Hambleden's usual keepers, had to be substituted due to a dead leg.  It was manager, Mark Coles (a former keeper himself), who had to take up the mantel.

Sanashee then scored his second on 79 minutes, shrugging off a challenge from Tom Mattoney, to run through and smash the ball home.  Mattoney seemed to take aversion to this, and, having already been booked on 20 minutes for arguing with the referee, was subsequently sent off for further dissent.

Sanashee completed the rout on 85 minutes taking full advantage of one less defender; he rounded Barber and smashed the ball over the line for his hat-trick and 14th goal of the season.  Final score 0-4.
