Match Report - Saturday 8th November 2008
Holmer Green Old Boys 6 v Hambleden 0
Despite the heavy rain, Hambleden's game at Holmer Green on Saturday went ahead. Both teams were pretty evenly matched with Hambleden slightly on top for the first half hour, until Holmer Green were awarded a penalty; the referee was at least 30 yards away from the incident when a Holmer Green player went down easily inside Hambleden's box. The penalty was converted by D.Gardner and the score remained 1-0 at the break.
Five minutes into the second half, Hambleden's keeper parried a long range shot into the path of Gardner who scored his second.
Hambleden held their ground and continued to plug away even having a few chances themselves; Steve Sanashee and Hudson Rolfe both hitting the woodwork, and Maknin heading over from three yards.
But the game turned in Holmer Green's favour in the 75th minute with a neat header at the back post by Gardner for his hat-trick. With Holmer Green now well ahead and in charge, Hambleden caved and Holmer Green took full advantage, with Gardner ending the game having scored a double hat-trick. Final score 6 - 0.
