Hambleden 2   v Red Lion (Wooburn) 6

Hambleden's rollercoaster season continued last Saturday.   Fellow league strugglers Red Lion came to the Dene and Hambleden had high expectations of 3 points following the previous week's demolition of AFC Amersham.

Hambleden started brightly and were rewarded on 7 minutes as Adam North delivered the perfect corner to the back post for Jamal Maknin to rise above everyone and head home.

Then Hambleden seemed to struggle with Red Lion's power and pressure and they soon found themselves 2-1 behind with goals on 20 and 30 minutes from Will Barber and Mitch Andrews respectively.

Then on 43 minutes Hudson Rolfe equalised with a 20 yard volley after Adam Markwell headed on the long punt up field from keeper Michael Clarke.

On the stroke of half-time Barber scored again and Red Lion went in at the break 3-2 ahead.  Hambleden never recovered.

Markwell came off at half time with a calf injury and the team seemed to press the self destruct button, conceding 3 goals in 12 minutes.   On 50 minutes Dave Eccles scored, on 55 Barber completed his hat-trick, and on 57 minutes, Eccles again with a perfectly executed chip from the edge of Hambleden's box.

Hambleden were always chasing the game from then on. Final score 2-6.

TEAM : Clarke, J.Rodrigues, Francis, Lakovic (capt), Rolfe, Maknin, S.Stephen, Marcus Cook, North, Gordon, Markwell (Hobson 45).

Hambleden's next fixture at the dene is on 15th November when the visitors are Winchmore Hill, kick-off 2pm.
