Hambleden  F.C versus Wraysbury F.C.
Saturday 4th October 2008

Hambleden have failed to impress so far this season in their Centenary year.
Having had a great pre-season finishing unbeaten they have yet to pick up any points in the league, losing both opening games at home, 2-1 against F.C. Titans and 4-1 to Wycombe Judo.

A welcome break from league action last Saturday could have not come any sooner.  Wraysbury F.C. from the Surrey Elite Intermediate League were the visitors to the Dene, in a Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup 1st round tie.
Wraysbury are currently flying high in their league and are unbeaten.

On a very blustery afternoon, Hambleden?s performance was a big improvement of late.  The debut of former Marlow captain John Beale in defence gave Hambleden a much more solid look and at times they were very much in control. Hambleden also gave a debut to young American striker Kenrick Gordon who was a second half substitute.

Both sides had good chances to open their accounts with both sets of strikers rattling the woodwork, but both keepers were in fine form.

So after 120 minutes of end to end entertaining football, for the few supporters who braved the weather, it went to the lottery of a penalty shoot out which Hambleden eventually lost 3-2.

Team: G.Stephen, Francis (Marcus Cook,67), Beale, Hobson, J.Rodrigues, Sanashee, S.Stephen (Maknin,58), McLeod (capt), Brunning, Matt Cook, P.Rodrigues (Gordon,45).

Hambleden are back in league action tomorrow (Saturday) when they travel to Broomwade Sports Ground in High Wycombe to play A.C. Marlow kick-off 2:30pm.
